National Fiddle Day Ceilidh

2017 Apr

Greeting Fiddlers, Pianists and any other musicians,

On Saturday, May 20, 2017 Canada will celebrate National Fiddle Day. Fiddle music is big in Glengarry so we would like to add to the celebrations; however, we need your musical help. We will host a Ceilidh at our Hall in Williamstown on the 20th from 2 pm to 4 pm and we’d like you to come and celebrate with us. It will be casual and of course, we will serve our normal lemonade and cookies. Hope to see you there. All musicians are welcome.

There is no dress code, but you might want to pull out the red and white to celebrate Canada’s 150. Kelli Trottier has written a new jig and you can find it here.

Congratulations to the folks at the Glengarry Celtic Music Hall of Fame for organizing this event. Celtic music comprises a large segment of the Canadian fiddle repertoire that is played throughout Canada. National Fiddling Day would not be complete without the great Scots music tradition of the Glengarry region. Enjoy your day!
